Some of the most important sites of the early Industrial Revolution can be found in the Heart of England
Ironbridge – the beginnings of mass-produced iron and steel.
One of a number of industrial heritage tours, we offer, is to Ironbridge in Shropshire. The River Severn flows through a steep-sided gorge here and the scene is peaceful now, but just over two hundred years ago there was a technological explosion in this place, which set off the Industrial Revolution, and which reverberated throughout the world. We’ll discover how ingenious and resourceful were the remarkable people who brought it about, what exactly they achieved and how that affected the way we live now. We’ll find out why it happened here and not somewhere else.
