Iconic English castles such as Warwick and country estates, the best-known being Blenheim Palace, make tours in the Heart of England both special and memorable.
LOOK AT ME… Down the ages, Castles and Country Houses have demanded this!
Strongholds for powerful lords in the Middle Ages, castles were, and often still are, spectacular symbols of domination!
Country houses came later, built by the very wealthy to impress the people that mattered - their social equals and betters. The architecture, contents and gardens of the country house all shouted of money and (hopefully) good taste!
The Heart of England is especially rich in castles - big and small, both ruined and complete - and has a wealth of country houses which can be discovered. On our tour we would visit a fairy-tale castle which became a grand country house - wonderful Warwick Castle, once owned by Kings and a ‘Kingmaker’, and now a great day out on its own! Before travelling through the quintessentially English countryside of Warwickshire and Oxfordshire to a country house that is a palace, and a World Heritage Site… Blenheim Palace!
