The Heart of England was the home and source of inspiration for William Shakespeare, our greatest ever playwright. It has also been the home to many more of the finest English writers, artists and musicians - including Sir Edward Elgar.

Elgar a man inspired by the English landscape.

Our Elgar tour, ‘In the tyre tracks of Mr Phoebus’, celebrates a local man who was also one of Britain’s finest and best loved composers.

Starting in Worcester, we discover his LAND, visiting his birthplace at Lower Broadheath, before travelling through his beloved Worcestershire countryside via Powick, where he held his first musical post (at the asylum), to the Malverns, his inspirational home and final resting place. We explore his HOPE of greatness, seeing houses where he and his wife once lived, and find out how he relaxed - his love of sport once led him to write a football chant! Finally, after passing the cricket ground and racecourse, where he held memberships, we consider the GLORY he achieved by visiting Worcester Cathedral, in which he is remembered.
